Some of you reading this might know me personally. Some of you might have heard of me before. But I’m no idiot. To the vast majority of you, I’m as irrelevant as Lou Holtz after the age of 50.
My name is Chris Williams. I’m 23-years old and I’m currently a sports reporter at KMA 960 in Shenandoah, Iowa and a columnist for the Ames Tribune.
I graduated from Iowa State with a degree in journalism last May. My four years at Iowa State were the greatest of my young life. I can’t lie, sometimes I think to myself that there’s not a thing I wouldn’t do to get them back. But I realize that’s not possible so I’m going to keep on trucking.
I’ve realized a lot lately that I feel really old. Take my birthday for instance. Last year I spent the day indulging in adult beverages on a golf course with my best friends. That night we went where every other right-minded Iowa State student went, Peoples. This year on my birthday, I was sitting by myself in my apartment at midnight, completely sober watching Man VS. Wild reruns on Discovery. Tough break but there are worse things in life.
By the way, Peoples is closed which is another blog topic for another day.
Back to the point. As I mentioned above, college was amazing for me. I really can’t imagine having a better experience than I did in four years. One of the reasons it was so great for me was because of the relationships I formed.
One of those friendships was with a guy named Brent Blum. Blum is now one of my best friends in the world but I can’t lie. When we first met, I couldn’t stand the kid. To me, he was an arrogant little pip-squeak who could talk his way out of pretty much anything. He drove me nuts but he always had one thing. That was my respect. The dude is legitimately one of the smartest people I’ve ever met.
We got to know each other and now we’re Williams and Blum. We’ve run a web-site together. We’ve hosted a radio show together. We just hired Blum at KMA to help me pump up our sports department. We are a team. End of story. There have been people in the past who have tried to break us apart but we didn’t let it happen. We won’t let it happen.
That’s what this site is about. It’s about two guys who have a passion and want to share that with those who care. We’re not out to rip you off and take your money. Sure, we’d like to make some extra cash but that’s not what this is about right now. When you come to this site, you’ll read analysis and a lot of inside information for one reason. We enjoy doing it.
If you want some sugarcoated, powder-puff analysis of Cyclone athletics then this probably isn’t your web-site. Sure, we support Iowa State and are both Cyclone alums, but filling your minds with propaganda isn’t what we’re about.
We aren’t going to be covering press conferences or anything like that for two reasons. 1) The NCAA would go Mike Gundy on us. 2) We have full-time jobs that are very demanding. If that’s what you want, then I’d suggest you go to www.cyclones.com and subscribe to the Clone Zone. That way the money goes to the university.
What we are going to do here is have fun and I invite all of you to start coming back on a regular basis. If you do, I’m sure that you’ll be glad you did. Thanks and have a great day.

Chris-
Well put! The true love story of you and Blum! However, I must say that you two have been through a lot together and haven't let certain people break your drive of doing what you love and what you're good at. Loving the blogs, guys!!
